New Research from MGMA, Jackson Physician Search and LocumTenens.com Gives Rural Health Leaders a Strategy for Sustaining Specialty CareMost rural healthcare organizations are not simply short on doctors — many are one physician departure away from creating a serious gap. A new report from Jackson Physician Search, LocumTenens.com and Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), titled Rural Healthcare Specialty Priorities: Rural Physician Workforce Survey, reveals that in the specialties rural communities depend on most, local physician capacity is stretched too thin. More than two in three respondents (68%) described family medicine capacity as insufficient or fragile, and majorities said the same for internal medicine (76%), general surgery (61%) and OB/GYN (61%).
